Monday Monday

Good Monday Morning.

I am tired this morning.
 I need lots of coffee.
Like three or four cups.
Maybe a big box of joe.
Enough to make me wanna run upstairs and jump
 on the mean machine. (right!)

So last night I was dreaming of hot coffee cake.
My first thought was to make myself the School Marm's coffee cake in a cup ,but I wanted something a bit bigger.
Hey the boys were home.
I also knew it would go great with my hot cuppa this morning.
I must say it was, but its better hot fresh out of the oven.
It is old fashioned made from scratch and it does get a bit
dry over night.
I like made from scratch and I really like the sugary lil crunch around the edges.
I will give it two gold stars, but not three.

 Crumb Cake

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 t.baking powder
1/2  t/ salt
2 T oil
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
2 t.vanilla

Topping
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 t cin.
1 stick butter melted.

Preheat oven to 325.
Combine all ingredients. Pour into large pie plate.
Spread it all out.
(Now to make the topping combine flour ,brown sugar and cin in a bowl.
 Pour melted butter over.
Mix with your hands and take the crumbles and
sprinkle over batter.
Bake for about 30 minutes.

Sprinkle with a lil powder sugar.
(Just cause its good)

Best with a hot cuppa.
The Marm will give us a gold star :)

Good morning Trace. I would have to say my parents because they had me baptized as a tiny, new baby. But I did not truly know how to have a close relationship with the Lord, until I met my boyfriend. Who became my husband. ;)

I love that hymn you shared! Such a shame we don't sing them more often! THe first person to share the love of Jesus with me besides my parents (My dad was a pastor) was Sister Beulah,my Sunday School teacher. I loved sitting in her classroom and trying to get to sit as close to the sand box to hear the stories! She had this box filled with sand and would put the figurines in the sand to tell the weekly story. And then she would let us touch the sand afterwards. Wonderful memories.

Oh my, that looks so good. I'm drinkin' my cuppa and looking at your wonderful picture and dreaming of coffee cake.
Hey, cute rooster napkins!
My dad would drop us girls off to Sunday school. My Grandma Green took me to Church some too.
Happy Monday!

Mmmmm...that cake sure looks yummy. Unfortunately, I have sinned greatly and now must do penance: DIET and EXERCISE. UHG. So, must keep occupied and keep my mind off of food. I am hitting the sewing room and the road to walk it off. Love your napkins. So cute. Always went to church, but my teen friend and neighbor, Ladene, lead me to the Lord. She was killed when she was a senior, but I have never forgotten all she did for me. Praise God!

You will never believe this, oh yes you will, although I was raised in church, it was my little 4'11" Nannie, who led me to Christ during a revival, when I was 12 years old.

I learned to love God at church. I don't remember any one person...just being in church and going to Sunday school every week. Enjoy your day! Sweet hugs!

Shh! Don't tell P(my husband). I just put the coffee cake in the oven. Somehow the topping came out like mud/mush. I am sure I made a mistake, but I thought I would make little swirls. WRONG...it is kinda "goopy" in the center. It is in the oven. Thank you for the recipe. I enjoy reading your posts. Have a marvelous Monday from middle TN.

OH MY!!!!!!!!!! It's a real coffee cake!!!!!! Not in a cup!!! Woohooo! No, no! It is three stars! I need to go get me a cup of coffee and a rag to wipe up my drool! Schoolmarm approved! Crunchy little sides? Okay, that right there is an extra star. Big coffee cake, big cuppa coffee!

I was first taught about Jesus at church and the Christian school I started to attend. My parents were not believers. My dad felt the need for church in our lives. He picked the one we went to because it ended early so he could play sports in the afternoon. God uses all things for His good! ;)

Blessings and hugs!
Heather
