Morning Friends.
Eight years ago when we started thinking about moving, buying land and building our home.
I wanted a old farmhouse, but Papa John wanted new.
I think he is wishing he bought the old farmhouse now.
Anyway seven years ago we bought our land ,planted trees ,put in many crossings and a well.
Five years ago we built our home.
My goal since we have moved in was to make this home look old. ( I still would like to take chains to the floor)
It has a very open floor plan and makes it cold.
I want a more warmer cozier feel.
So we are buying old barn wood and my carpenter Papa John is going to build me barn doors for this giant opening.
They will go on a track and slide back and forth just like barn doors.
My daughter and family also live in the downstairs of our home.
(The only thing we share is the front door)
So it will also give us all a bit more privacy.
We found this awesome company "The Barnyard Boys".
They tear down old barns and salvage all the materials.
Well lets just say I was in wood heaven Saturday.
Papa John and I could have stayed for hours dreaming of ways and things we could use this beautiful old wood.
Let me also say we have a few other projects in our heads too.
The above wood is three we are choosing from.
I think I have made up my mind between the brown,
grey and white.
Whats your favorite?
Oh you should have seen the beautiful old wood
they have for floors and so much more.
I am wood dreaming.
So hopefully I will have beautiful old/new doors to share
with you soon.

Therefore ,my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not
only in my presence, but now much more in my absence continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,

Wow, that is going to look so amazing. I like the grey!
I like the idea! I've seen a lot of those barn doors on blogs and Pinterest. I would choose brown. I think it would match with the floors and colour of the wall.

Oh Trace, I love the barn doors. Seem to be really popular. Such a great idea, and I think they will look great there. Personally I love the brown wood. Just speaks barn and old to me but use what you love. Any of them will be beautiful. Now you know while Papa John is working so hard, some wonderful smells should be coming out of that kitchen to reward him. Hmmmm,, cake, pie, cookies,,,, you know the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!! {smile} Have a wonderful day.

Your walls are dark as wel as the floor so I think the white would look best...it will "pop"!
But I know whatever you choose it will look awesome!
Okay, I am not loving today's prayer...I have read where it says that we are not to fear 365 times in the bible. That fear is not of the Lord. But in today scripture we are to fear & temple.?. I know it is in the bible but...I ...am ...confused. Will have to pray about this one.
Happy Tuesday!
Hard for me to choose a favorite but I love this idea! Hope you have fun sewing this afternoon.
I am a sucker for the chippy white, but the browns are timeless. Oh, how blessed you are:) What a beautiful home you have Trace. -Steph-
Oh my goodness how awesome! I have seen those barn doors in places I think on HGTV and LOVE them! I like the white and think it would look neat with your white baseboards and trim. Second choice would be the brown. Can't wait to see this and I am so happy for you!
Be blessed,
Cindi
Trace oh my! Would it be wrong to say I have had a wood-gasm? Love... sigh... I so want wood counters... and this gets me thinking... but you are on the east coaster, me midwest...sigh... I love all the choices, can't wait to see, but the first one on the left is my fave... hugs! OLM

Any one of those would be beautiful, Trace! Lucky you...love those barn doors! It's going to be SO pretty! I guess my favorite would be the brown...but then I'm a log cabin type girl....seriously, any one will be awesome!
Hugs,
Tammy
Barn wood is awesome. Just make sure it is treated before you bring it inside...you don't want bugs hitching rides onto the other wood you have. Love barn wood! Cannot wait to see what you choose. I have seen barn doors that slide into the wall like a pocket door before. It looked awesome. Take care and good luck..I hate making decisions. Janice
Hi Trace,
Your new barn doors will look awesome in your home!! I like them all, but the brown one is my favorite. Can't wait to see the doors when you guys get them done.
hugs,
Cindy
Oh how wonderful! I used to love working on our old New Englander that we had Back East. Always a project. I sure miss that.I love the brown wood,it is so warm feeling. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Blessings~Sara
You have a lovely lovely home...
Trace',
What a beautiful home you have! I hear you about open floor plans, but yours in gorgeous! I love your green walls- so soothing and a perfect compliment to wood. I am so behind on reading blogs, you have probably already picked the color. I do love the middle one. I love doors on tracks. Steve's cousins have that in their home. Made from the family's barn doors from the dairy farm they used to have... I think yours will rock!
Thank you for sharing the journal... I do love it... I am a little behind in mine...
Love,
Heather
I commented on several posts from my phone, but they didn't post. :-(
I love the brown. It would look super-rich in your house. But the white with a thin coat of Annie Sloan dark wax (like the chair pic I sent you), would be awesome, too. Bright, but still aged and warm like you like it.
If you want to try the wax, don't do it alone. Let someone show you how. It will save you a TON of time and frustration. Someone like me, of course. :-)
