Old Dress

Good Friday Morning Friends!
Yesterday I found this material in the fabric bin at the Thrift Store.
I have such a heart for old things. I just had to have it.
It was carefully wrapped up in white paper and marked fifty cents.
Can I tell you how excited I was over this peachy orange fabric.
It so reminded me of a old dress, pants or shirt my Gram would have wore.
When I took off the white paper I could tell it was cut off of a old dress.
I felt this warm all over happy feeling.
I could picture my Gram at her sink or stove in it.
I just know I was born in the wrong era.
I am not a fancy girl but a girl who loves to create simple things with my hands,
search for old things and share His love in my heart.
There is not a day that goes by I don't think of my precious Gram and all the love she gave me.
I am so grateful for all she taught me so I can share with others.
And boy oh boy am I so happy for scraps of fabric wrapped in paper in Thrift Store bins.

(yes I was doing the JOY JOY JOY dance)

Your Silly Granny Friend

Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

  1. Oh Trace you are so not silly! Thank you for bringing me to mind of my dear grandmothers! I was especially close to my moms mom-simply because she lived two streets over and passed her house every day walking home from school-always stopped in for hug and happy heart to release all my "serious" problems on!! So many happy memories I have in that tiny little farmhouse with that dear fragile-hard working lady! Blessings to you for a lovely weekend Trace-I'm off to church to scrapbook with several friends for 2 relaxing-laugh-filled-but of course serious working!- days with wonderful peeps!! It's snowing-of course-cause I need to pack my stuff up in the truck!!~~Rain

  5. Trace, there is just something special about our grandmothers. Mine lived with us as mother worked, so she was the one to get me ready for school, there when I came in ,or was out sick and nutured me back to good health. I was blessed as she lived to be 95. Great memories. Love the material. Make yourself a loving apron out of it. Thanks for the memories.
